Patty Rowland Burke

Principal Designer and Instructor

Patty Burke is an expert in executive education instruction and design principles and has decades of experience as an operating executive and advisor to venture capitalists and their portfolio companies.

Prior to joining the Global Corporate Venturing Institute, Patty was on the innovation team at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) responsible for new products, services and partnerships.  At CCL, she co-developed the “Advancing Technical Women’ leadership course, designed to retain and promote technical women.  Patty is the author of Beating the Odds:  Winning Strategies for Women in STEM about real-life success stories of technical women. As a Fellow and Partner with the Bell Mason Group, she helped global corporations build high performance venturing and innovation programs.  Patty was also a consultant to venture capital firms and their portfolio companies on product and business model validation.

Patty is a Silicon Valley veteran, holding VP level positions at Symantec, Peter Norton Computing and several startups. As VP Marketing at Ramp Networks she was responsible for product management from first revenue through IPO.  

Patty received her BA at the University of Texas at Austin and now lives in Monterey, CA. When she’s not teaching for the Institute you can find her volunteering at the Monterey Bay Aquarium or running on the beach.
